Sour Diesel, also known as Sour D, is a Sativa strain of cannabis. It is a cross between 91 Chemdawg and a super skunk/northern lights. The strain produces a fast acting, cerebral high that is powerful but short in duration (~45 minutes). Sour Diesel is easily identified by its extremely pungent sour scent as well as its uplifting, mood enhancing effects.

Sour Diesel

The origins of Sour Diesel point to a Chemdawg grower in Colorado who intentionally bred the strain and gave clones from the best plant to other growers. Others say the strain was a mistake, developed from a few seeds found in a large bag of Chemdawg that were grown and crossed with Super Skunk somewhere on the east coast.

Subset strains

  • Sour Dayble Diesel OG
  • Sour Diesel #2
  • Super Sour Diesel
  • Sour Diesel OG

Medical uses

Sour Diesel is highly effective in relieving stress, anxiety, and pain. Also, there is some suggestion that it may be helpful in alleviating the symptoms associated with chronic depression.

Characteristics

This strain is known to contain upwards of 20% of the active ingredient, THC,.

Appearance

Sour Diesel's flowers are light green with moderate orange hairs. Trichome production is very high in this strain. This produces buds that are covered in a frosty white layer of THC. The leaves of Sour Diesel are thin and the plant grows tall like most sativa strains.

Growing environment

Sour Diesel stretches in the first three weeks of flowering. By maturity Sour Diesel could reach 6 feet indoors. Flowering time is approximately twelve weeks indoors, while outdoor plants will finish in late October. It can be grown indoors and outdoors with average yields ranging between 450 and 550 grams per square meters.
