Iqela Lentsango: The Dagga Party of South Africa (more commonly known as the Dagga Party) is a South African political party registered with the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) in the Western Cape. It was founded in February 2009 by Jeremy Acton, who remains the party's leader. "Dagga" is a South African colloquial term for cannabis, the legalisation of which forms the core of the party's platform. The party believes cannabis legalisation would confer numerous socio-economic benefits to South Africa.

The deadline however was missed as the party could not raise the required funds of R200,000.00 registration fee in time, which is a requirement of the IEC to part take in the South African National Elections. The party leader, Jeremy Acton, stated that the party had therefore been disappointed after their plans went up in smoke.
